Dear Friend –
X (formerly known as Twitter) has changed a lot over the last couple of years. Now, the platform is unrecognizable. So Accountable Tech has left.
X has cut entire content safety teams, reducing oversight and letting harmful content thrive. [1]
We cannot support a platform that abandons user safety. Instead, follow us on:

This year, X removed the “block” feature’s ability to shield blocked users from viewing public posts [2], putting users at risk of further harassment. And on November 15, X changed its terms of service to allow all user content to be used for training third-party AI models. [3] This change jeopardizes users’ privacy.
So why did we stay?
For over two years, we stayed because the platform was a critical tool for raising awareness, informing the public, and sharing our insights on making the internet safer. But X is no longer that platform. By engaging here, we risk feeding an algorithm that amplifies anger and hate, exposing our followers and allies to abuse. We can’t, in good conscience, continue to bring our community into such a toxic environment.
Together, we can keep pushing for tech accountability and advocating for safer, healthier digital spaces. We invite you to continue supporting our work and joining us on other social media platforms: Bluesky, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Thanks for being with us,
