Dear John,This past week I was in beautiful Kildonan–St. Paul, Manitoba. I’m thankful for the opportunity to connect one-on-one with my constituents, and hear their questions and concerns firsthand so I can do the best job possible representing them in Ottawa. Here is a sample of what I got up to: |
On Remembrance Day I was honoured to lay a wreath and take part in Royal Canadian Legion 215’s Remembrance Day service in East St. Paul to honour and remember Canada’s veterans. To those who have served, and continue to serve, to protect us - thank you.Lest we forget. |
It was a privilege to speak with grade 6 and 7 students of West St. Paul school as we explored Canada’s political system. We talked about how the House of Commons functions and my experience as a Member of Parliament. |
Great to meet with Scott McMurchy, the new Assistant Commissioner and Commanding Officer of the Manitoba RCMP. We discussed public safety issues related to gangs and potential interventions available for youth to avoid crime. We also discussed the alarming rise in domestic violence and what could be done to address this. |
Last night I was pleased to attend the fall supper in support of the SAFARI (Springfield Area Farmers Aiding Relief Internationally) growing project with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. The Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a faith-based organization started by prairie farmers who wanted to end global hunger. I was touched by the level of impact this organization has accomplished and honoured to meet such generous and hardworking individuals and volunteers who make this important work possible. |
