Mass Deportations Are Not Enough ([link removed])
By Mark Krikorian
Thomas D. Klingenstein, November 15, 2024
Excerpt: The United States now has the largest percentage of foreign-born residents ever recorded, higher even than during the Ellis Island era. Without changes to the immigration statutes, it will keep climbing. The essence of conservatism is prudence, and prudence calls for a lower level of immigration. As Sen. Jeff Sessions wrote in 2015 (well before Trump’s famous escalator ride), “What we need now is immigration moderation: slowing the pace of new arrivals so that wages can rise, welfare rolls can shrink, and the forces of assimilation can knit us all more closely together.”
The ‘Trump Effect’ 2.0: Illegal Border Crossings Set To Plummet, On One Condition ([link removed])
By Todd Bensman
Daily Wire, November 15, 2024
Excerpt: Shortly after Donald Trump’s upset election victory in 2016, official State of Texas business brought me to two ICE immigration detention centers in South Texas. I ran an intelligence group for the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division. What I learned there has informed my beliefs about illegal immigration ever since.

New York Post, November 15, 2024
Excerpt: Now that Trump plans to resuscitate what he called his “famous Travel Ban”, Americans deserve to know its common-sense original national security purpose. And, because times have changed, the incoming administration should consider expanding the original list of problematic countries far beyond the 13 that were last on it.

CIS Comments on the DOJ/DHS ‘Securing the Border’ Final Rule ([link removed])
By Elizabeth Jacobs
Excerpt: President Biden’s proclamation is a watered-down version of a 2018 Trump order that was intended to deter asylum abuse by barring aliens who enter the United States between ports of entry (illegally) from asylum eligibility.
