Earlier this year, the Office of the Comptroller announced that Maryland is joining the IRS Direct File program! Joining this program will make it easier for residents to file their tax returns for free next year, streamlining the process for 800,000+ Marylanders.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve held multiple roundtable meetings where local leaders have joined us to discuss the program and what it means for our state.

I’m proud to have created an Office of Public Engagement at the Comptroller of Maryland to help ensure we share information with communities, businesses – and you! Our public engagement officers attend events and hold meetings all over our state to answer questions and ensure we’re doing our part to make filing easier for Marylanders. If you ever have an event you’d like them to attend to bring resources, please let me know!
