Hi John,
Republicans, in the midst of a public health crisis, are squarely focused on repealing the ACA and eliminating health care for hundreds of thousands of Americans. And Susan Collins is somehow acting surprised by this. This week she told Newsweek that she doesn’t “know of anyone who thinks that the repeal of the individual mandate meant that the whole law would fall.”
Really? Cause it seems like she should know someone -- herself.
In 2012, Collins signed an amicus brief that argued that the ACA could not stand without the individual mandate. She has also voted a dozen times to repeal or undermine the ACA. This is just another example of Collins saying one thing and voting another.
Right now the Trump Department of Justice is challenging the ACA in the Supreme Court and they are using the elimination of the individual mandate from the 2017 Republican tax scam as its foundation. Collins, and every other Republican, voted for that tax cut knowing it would be used to kill the ACA. Saying now that she didn’t know what she was voting for means she is either lying or wasn’t paying attention.
Thank you for your support,
Lisa
