Earlier this week we reached out about a dangerous bill, HR 9495, that would give the Trump administration sweeping power to shut down any nonprofit organization he doesn’t like by accusing them of wrongdoing without any due process.

Many of you spoke up and sent urgent messages to your members of Congress, and thankfully, the bill failed to pass the House — but 52 Democrats voted for it.

These are Democrats bought and paid for by AIPAC and other right-wing, corporate lobbies who were okay with granting Trump unprecedented and unchecked power so that it could be used to silence the Pro-Palestinian movement.

This bill was a far-right assault on our freedom of speech and right to protest, and it’s appalling that any Democrat would support it. It’s yet another example of why so many people are disillusioned with Democratic leadership, who continue to abandon our shared values and move further to the right.
