John, Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations are even more unqualified and dangerous than we imagined. We need a real plan and fresh thinking to prepare ourselves to push back.

We need a better way to explain how our policies help everyday Americans and sound the alarm when Trump policies would hurt them.

That’s why I’m calling for a Shadow Cabinet of highly qualified Democrats to counter the MAGA message with our own. If you agree we need to organize now against Trump’s extreme agenda, please sign my petition calling for the formation of the first Democratic Shadow Cabinet.

With a shadow cabinet, there will be no hiding.

Each decision by the government will face a ready counterpoint — not just from the media and voters but also from political leaders poised to step in. It’s democracy’s insurance policy, and it strengthens the government, too.

Right now, we need qualified messengers to explain to the American people what we stand for; something we didn’t do enough of this cycle.

Imagine Sen. Adam Schiff, as our shadow attorney general, holding Matt Gaetz’s feet to the fire if he tries weaponizing our Justice Department. Or Rep. Rosa DeLauro pushing back on RFK Jr’s attempts to ban vaccines or strip abortion rights.

This shadow cabinet isn’t just about opposing extreme MAGA attacks on our government. It’s about holding Donald Trump and his dangerous Cabinet accountable by assigning a watchdog to each and every agency.
