After enduring a bruising and heartbreaking election, it's understandable
if you feel bone-tired, devastated, and gravely concerned for the future
of our country.
But in the week and a half since Election Day, MoveOn members have shown
that the spirit of activism is alive and stronger than ever.
Already, our efforts to resist Donald Trump's MAGA agenda are having an
impact.
When the MAGA-controlled House tried to rush through H.R.9495, the bill
that would have granted Trump unprecedented power to target nonprofits
like MoveOn, we mobilized—and we won.^1
And we're making it clear that we won't stand by as Trump attempts to fill
his Cabinet with extremists and ideologues.
Trump has chosen loyal sycophants, including extremist Matt Gaetz for
attorney general. Gaetz recently resigned from the House of
Representatives to avoid the House Ethics Committee releasing a report
(scheduled for this week) on his alleged child sex trafficking prior to
his confirmation hearing. Like Trump, he blames all of his problems on the
"deep state."^2 One former DOJ official calls Gaetz's appointment to the
nation's top law enforcement office a "vomit in your mouth moment."^3
But the battle for the heart and soul of our nation is just beginning.
Trump and the MAGA movement are counting on us to grow weary, to accept
his extreme and unqualified Cabinet picks as inevitable, and to simply
give up. But we won't back down—not now and not ever.

Trump's appointments are more than alarming—they're a direct threat to our
democracy and the well-being and safety of millions of Americans. He's
picked:
* Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as secretary of health and human services. A
well-known anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist, who has not refuted
claims that he sexually assaulted a former employee, Kennedy Jr. is
now poised to influence policies that affect the health and well-being
of millions.^4
* Matt Gaetz as attorney general. Gaetz has a long history of deplorable
behavior, including claims that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old
and was also being investigated by House Republicans for illicit drug
use, misuse of campaign funds, and accepting bribes.^5 But Trump has
nominated him to be the chief law enforcement officer of our nation.
* Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence. Gabbard has a
history of backing Kremlin conspiracy theories and supporting Bashar
al-Assad, Syria's brutal dictator. Now she's set to oversee our
intelligence community.^6
* Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense. A Fox News host and commentator
and a "recovering neocon" who's now a MAGA convert, Hegseth is poised
to be "the least experienced defense secretary in the history of the
republic."^7,8
Trump's Cabinet nominations are mortifying and terrifying.
But cracks are starting to show in Trump's authoritarian plan.
The Senate, which must confirm these nominees, is not entirely in his
pocket. Despite pressure from Trump, Senate Republicans elected Senator
John Thune over Trump's preferred candidate, Senator Rick Scott, as
majority leader.^9
The line against Trump's extremist agenda can be held. But we need your
help to keep the momentum going.

for justice and equality in the face of policies these individuals
would enact.
But this work requires resources.
