While we must continue to be vigilant and serious about fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, we also can’t lose sight of the crucially important election coming this November when we must remove Donald Trump from office and restore truth and honesty to the White House. We all must rally behind our presumptive nominee and long time friend to New Jersey, former Vice President Joe Biden. I was ecstatic to see Governor Phil Murphy not only join Vice President Biden for a COVID-19 roundtable discussion with other governors yesterday, but to also see our Governor offer his endorsement to Biden for President. With key metrics like new daily cases, rate of positive cases, hospitalizations and more continuing to decrease, Governor Murphy is continuing to guide our state down the Road Back. The Governor made two major announcements this week, the first permitting non-essential construction to resume with social distancing rules along with allowing for curbside pickup [[link removed]] at retail stores. Both of these measures will help put people back to work while being responsible and making sure we do not jump the gun and put our people at greater risk.

Later in the week, Governor Murphy made an announcement that I am sure many residents itching to get out of their homes appreciated, allowing beaches, boardwalks, lakes, and lakeshores to remain open with social distancing measures in place. With the Summer months fast approaching, ensuring that beaches can open responsibly is important not just for our economy, but also to our state’s psyche with the Jersey Shore being such a huge part of our shared identity.

NJDSC partnered with the National Democratic Training Committee to offer two sessions of online training courses this week. We are glad to report that over 400 people signed up to attend the trainings, a strong response that shows how many residents are still committed to fighting for the change we need. Focusing on a range of topics needed to run a successful campaign, the trainings were designed to prepare the next generation of Democratic candidates and campaign operatives. Governor Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy both made surprise appearances at the trainings, and we thank them for their commitment to nurturing the next generation of Democrats.
Thank you,
Chairman John Currie
