John,
If you’re an undocumented immigrant, I want you to know that you belong here and you are loved. I will have your back, as will grassroots groups like United We Dream—the nation’s largest immigrant youth-led network—in the fight for a humane immigration system and a liberated future where we can all thrive.
United We Dream has mobilized thousands of immigrant youth and allies through mass sit-ins, school walkouts, and shutdowns of Congressional offices and immigrant detention centers, winning policy victories like the DACA program to help undocumented immigrant youth live, work, and study here without threat of deportation.
Many of my neighbors are afraid as Trump plans to carry out the largest deportation effort in our country’s history, threatening to weaponize the same policy that sent Japanese Americans to internment camps. It’s time to support grassroots groups like United We Dream, which is already mobilizing to prevent mass deportations and pressuring the Biden-Harris administration to act in the next few weeks before Trump takes office.
During the first Trump administration, United We Dream pushed back against Trump’s attacks on DACA and Temporary Protected Status, while winning sanctuary resolutions and state policies that limit cooperation with ICE.
The demonization of immigrants isn’t just a Republican issue, however. Deportations increased under President Obama and President Biden, and the Biden administration has targeted asylum-seekers who are fleeing persecution and violence. No matter who’s in power, we’ll keep pushing back against racist dehumanization and growing the movement to fix our broken immigration system.
Across presidential administrations, United We Dream has built a powerful network to halt deportations, empower immigrant communities with know-your-rights campaigns, train allies on actions to protect immigrants in their communities, create safe spaces for immigrant youth to come together and process the moment, and support undocumented people’s resilience with their Undocuhealth program.
Now more than ever, we must urgently step up to support our immigrant neighbors, including supporting United We Dream’s much-needed work.

John,
As a former immigration attorney, a daughter of immigrants, and a Congresswoman representing a vibrant community of immigrants, I will keep defending my undocumented neighbors and pushing for a humane immigration system, with real paths to citizenship for asylum-seekers and for the millions of undocumented people who’ve lived and worked in our communities for decades.
I want to lift up the work of United We Dream, the largest immigrant youth-led network in the country, which is already fighting back against anti-immigrant policies, empowering immigrant communities with know-your-rights campaigns, training allies on actions to protect immigrants in their communities, and creating spaces for immigrant youth to come together and process the moment.
Twelve years ago United We Dream successfully pushed the Obama administration to enact DACA, the program that protects undocumented youth from deportation and allows them to get government IDs so they can drive, go to school, and hold jobs. This was the first major immigration policy victory in over 25 years!
Since then, United We Dream has continued to push for expanded protections and to fight back against deportation raids and racist laws under multiple presidential administrations. As Trump plans to carry out the largest deportation effort in our country’s history by weaponizing the same policy that sent Japanese Americans to internment camps, United We Dream is ready to defend immigrant communities.
Right now, United We Dream is pressuring the Biden-Harris administration and Members of Congress to take advantage of every possible measure to deliver massive protections for millions of immigrants over the critical next few weeks.
Will you chip in today to help the undocumented youth leaders at United We Dream urgently ramp up efforts to prevent and respond to mass deportations?

Since mobilizing to enact the DACA program, United We Dream has continued to support people with DACA renewals and to expand protections for DACA recipients’ undocumented parents and spouses.
In response to the Obama administration's record number of deportations (which have increased with every following president), United We Dream launched the first and only volunteer-led national hotline to report inhumane behavior by ICE and local law enforcement.
During the first Trump administration, United We Dream won sanctuary resolutions and state policies that limit cooperation with ICE, while pushing back against Trump’s attacks on DACA and Temporary Protected Status. Some immigrant children are still separated from their families due to Trump’s cruel policies.
Unfortunately, President Biden continued many of Trump’s anti-immigrant policies and his administration has increased deportations and immigrant detention. Recently we’ve seen more Democrats normalize and participate in the dehumanization and demonization of immigrants.
That’s why no matter who’s in power, United We Dream’s work to build immigrant community resilience is essential, including running their Undocuhealth program and creating safe spaces for people impacted by unjust anti-immigrant policies.
As United We Dream wrote after Election Day: “Immigrants are here to stay. We’re ready to fight for our safety and our futures, and will continue to grow our movement of people ready to protect our communities at every turn.”
Will you donate today to support United We Dream in the urgent fight to protect immigrant communities?
Thank you for standing up to protect one another.
In solidarity,
Rashida
