John, today, I’m a sophomore in college. But 12 years ago, I was a second grader at Sandy Hook Elementary, hiding among my classmates’ backpacks and coats during one of the most horrific school shootings our country experienced.
The intercom was on, so every sound was amplified. I tried to focus on my teacher’s voice instead, as she quietly read to us.
That teacher was Abbey Clements, one of the co-founders of Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence.
I had to put a lot of trust in Ms. Clements that day. And now, I still have that same trust in Ms. Clements. This time, as my ally in the fight to end gun violence.
Ms. Clements and I have spoken at rallies together, pushed for gun violence prevention legislation, and now, I’m helping her and Teachers Unify be the movement for real change. A movement that leads to safer classrooms and communities – so no one else has to go through what we did. But we can’t do it without you, John.
Making the impact needed for change is hard, expensive work no matter who you are – but Teachers Unify is made up of teachers and school staff, not professional fundraisers with big connections. Can they count on you to donate right now to power their work that will help us end gun violence in schools? >>
Just like the teachers building this movement, I’m turning my pain and frustration into purpose. Into change.
But that takes all of us standing together – especially when so many people would rather look away from this crisis than face it head on.
Teachers Unify is taking action. They’re raising their voices and demanding to be heard as experts on this issue. They just need us to stand with them.
Teachers Unify relies on grassroots donations to make homegrown change – so I’m asking you to stand with us and fund this fight, so no one else has to face what we did. Will you rush $25 or whatever you can right now to help educators empower a safer future for all of us? >>
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thanks for being in the fight,
