Hello,
Imagine being a school-aged child in America right now. Classes have been cancelled. Your parents, extremely busy with their own responses to the crisis, are doing their best to continue your education any way they can. It's got to be an extremely stressful and scary situation, especially for someone so young and with a future so uncertain.
Now imagine you're in one of the roughly 14% of households with school-aged children in the United States that lack internet access. There's simply no way for you to connect with the outside world.
This problem doesn't just affect school-aged children -- internet inequality disproportionately affects the elderly, people of color, and Americans who live in rural areas. All of those demographics are particularly at risk right now -- and that's why Congress needs to take decisive action to expand broadband internet access, now.
If you agree that we need to protect the education of America's next generation; if you agree we can't let rural Americans and Americans of color suffer because of their circumstances; and if you agree that everyday citizens deserve as much support from the government as the corporations that just got a bailout, add your name to ours and demand Congress take action now! >> [link removed]
Thank you,
The WDTO Team
