This is the worst stage of the genocide yet. Israel is starving and bombing Palestinians from Gaza and now carrying their attacks into Lebanon. Because we’ve seen firsthand what displacement and violence have done to our immigrant friends and loved ones, we stand against genocide and need our supporters in this fight with us.
UWDA supporters, students, and immigrant communities across the country have been vocal about ending the genocide since the beginning, so I wanted to share another opportunity to show your solidarity.
Right now, we’re in a narrow window where the $20 billion arms deal — that President Biden approved in August — to Israel can still be blocked. In the next week or two, the Senate will hold the first vote in history to directly block weapons to Israel. Each member of Congress will be forced to go on record with where they stand.
Friend, we know anti-Palestinian dehumanization runs deep in Congress. But, because you believe in a world where we are all free to move and free to thrive, then you must bring the same support that you have for immigrants into action to demand Congress stop this genocide NOW. Sen. Bernie Sanders, Peter Welch, and Jeff Merkley recently introduced six Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to halt the $20 billion weapons deal. These resolutions are the most effective vehicle to block Biden’s $20 billion deal and stop these weapons in their tracks.
We must move swiftly to take advantage of this time before Congress goes on record with their vote. Will you join me in sending letters to Congress today?
