We can?t afford to sit this out.? ? ? ? ? Friend ? This is developing quickly. Earlier this week, the House leadership unveiled the latest COVID-19 relief bill that ? if we can get it passed ? could be a gamechanger.

This bill prioritizes support for communities of color, Indigenous communities, low-income folks and others who are suffering most from the pandemic. It provides some direct relief and safety measures for essential workers on the front lines. It also provides $3.6 billion in election assistance, so that voters can safely cast their ballots in this crucial election year.

There's also a serious push among anti-environment lawmakers to earmark relief funds for fossil fuel companies. We need to make sure that doesn't make it into the final bill.

All signs indicate that this next vote will get nasty. The Trump administration, along with the Republicans in the Senate, have already announced their opposition to the bill.

We MUST get an equitable and just relief bill passed. A donor has agreed to triple-match every contribution to our organizing efforts through the end of the month. The best thing you can do to help right now is to make an emergency contribution.

Friend, this can't wait. Every donation is being triple-matched through the end of the month. Will you make an emergency contribution to LCV today? [link removed]

You can truly make a difference right now. This pandemic is fundamentally changing the future of environmental policy in our country ? it's a moment when the environmental movement cannot stay silent.

Throughout this entire crisis, Trump and his administration have deliberately ignored the advice of scientists and experts in the field ? and thereby made the problem exponentially worse.

Amid a pandemic that targets respiratory systems, Trump has rolled back federal limits on air pollution, effectively making it harder for people to breathe. This House bill provides research grants to better understand the connection between pollution exposure and the effects of COVID-19.

While low-income folks have struggled to pay their utilities, the White House has pushed to cut funding to energy assistance programs. This bill allocates $1.5 billion to expand the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, and provides the same amount to also help low-income families cover the costs of their water bills.

Trump is calling to quickly lift stay-at-home orders, despite scientific experts' warnings that a second wave of infections could be imminent if we reopen too early. The latest relief bill allocates funds and provides guidelines to local governments trying to keep people safe.

When Congress was debating the first COVID-19 relief bill back in March, Trump tried to add provisions to bail out the oil and gas industry. We stopped him. There's already a major effort to do the same thing with this bill. We need to be ready when he does.

This is huge. We MUST fight with everything we've got to ensure a people-not-polluters-focused relief bill gets passed. We need to light up the phones in the Capitol. We need to mount aggressive pressure campaigns. We need to raise hell. This will take a huge organizing push, but with your help ? we can do this.

Please, please, friend ? we can't sit this one out. A donor is triple-matching every gift through the end of this month ? even $5 will go a long way! Make a donation now ? [link removed]
