What Trump’s pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency could mean for our clean air and water

With President Trump’s return to office, where do we find hope for environmental progress? The good news is there are many places to turn that are far from a president’s reach. Earthjustice plans to double down on our state-based and regional work — because no election result will extend the planet’s climate deadlines.

Reasons to be hopeful about the courts

Despite some worrisome recent decisions from the Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority, there’s good news about the overall health of the federal court system. Here’s why the 200-plus lawyers at Earthjustice remain confident that the courts remain a place to effectively defend the environment.

Is there a dirty hydrogen project proposed in your community?

The federal government is starting to award massive amounts of funding for seven “hydrogen hubs” across the country. The stakes are high for communities facing proposed hydrogen projects, particularly communities already overburdened by pollution. Learn more about the impacts of hydrogen projects and how you can help shape the plans for your local hub.

Whether hydrogen is good for the climate and communities depends heavily on how it is produced, transported, and used. The Inflation Reduction Act unleashed an unprecedented amount of money for hydrogen tax credits. Oil and gas giants and other companies with schemes for making dirty hydrogen are vying for these subsidies. Tell the Department of Energy to ensure that these tax credits are only available for truly clean hydrogen.
