Hi John xxxxxx,
This week, the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard oral arguments over whether a 175-year-old abortion ban that went into effect following the overturning of Roe v. Wade is enforceable.
We wanted to share this video clip from the hearing with you because it perfectly illustrates why Her Bold Move must exist – and why women MUST be in the rooms where policy is made.

The hearing featured the women court Justices asking probing and important questions of the male prosecutor’s attorney who was defending the state’s abortion ban. As they asked hypothetical but realistic questions, for example, about a 12-year-old girl becoming pregnant after being raped by a family member (a scenario that would NOT qualify for an abortion under this law), the attorney often shrugged his shoulders.
It was infuriating to watch the juxtaposition of so much merited emotion coming from the female justices compared to the nonchalance of a male attorney (and a male court Justice) working to remove bodily autonomy from millions of women and girls.
This is why it’s so important that we have women in the rooms where decisions about our bodies are being made. As Justice Rebecca Dallet pointed out, the only people who had rights in 1849 – when the original abortion law was signed into law – were white, property-owning men. We have made unimaginable progress since that law was implemented, and we must keep up the fight.
This law was written before women could vote and even before gynecology was established as a surgical specialty. We are sick and tired of men working to take our nation backward, and we are sure you are, too.
Thanks to the women on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, this law will likely be rendered unenforceable. THAT is EXACTLY why what we do at Her Bold Move is so important. Help us continue to elect pro-choice, pro-WOMEN at all levels of our government by pitching in $25 or more today →

“I fear that what you are asking this court to do is to sign the death warrants of women and children and pregnant people in this state, because under your interpretation, they could all be denied life-saving medical care, while the medical professionals who are charged with taking care of them are forced to sit idly by.” - WI Supreme Court Justice Jill Karofsky |
