We’re excited to share some major RCV successes! Bloomington residents upheld their ranked choice voting system, Washington, D.C. voters overwhelmingly adopted RCV, and two municipalities in Illinois passed RCV-related ballot measures. These are significant victories to celebrate!
In Minnesota, we are thrilled to welcome eight new RCV Democracy Champions to the legislature—seven in the House and one in the Senate with the election of Ann Johnson Stewart in Senate District 45. While we didn’t achieve a legislative majority for RCV this year, this progress puts us in a strong position for 2026, and we’ll keep building critical support over the next two years.
Despite these wins, we acknowledge the setbacks. RCV-related ballot measures failed in four states, and Alaska's repeal effort appears poised to succeed, pending final absentee ballot counts. While the reasons for these statewide outcomes are complex and still being analyzed, the election cycle’s intense polarization made reform difficult. Yet at the local, less-partisan level, successes in places like Bloomington, D.C., Oak Park, and Peoria show that RCV remains popular and effective.

Celebrating You
Our successes in Minnesota were made possible by your hard work and dedication. Together, we knocked on over 12,000 doors and made countless calls for RCV champions in swing districts. In Bloomington alone, volunteers reached out to over 13,000 voters at the doors and on the phone to protect RCV from repeal. We’d love to thank you in person! Please join us at one of our volunteer recognition events: General Volunteer Recognition Event Date: November 25, 5:00 PM Location: Lake Monster Brewing Join us for pizza and beverages as we celebrate our efforts!

Thank you, RCV Champions!
We’re incredibly grateful to our endorsed candidates, with more than 100 pro-RCV candidates running in support of the Local Voices, Local Choices Act. While we didn’t reach our full goal, we are sending eight new RCV champions to the Capitol. We extend our congratulations to all elected champions and thank every candidate for prioritizing democracy reform. We look forward to working with you to advance RCV in the legislature! We also thank Minnesota voters for showing that democracy reform matters. Regardless of election outcomes, your support for RCV is crucial as we gear up for the legislative session. |
