Email from Rep. Hinson Friend, It has been an exciting few weeks. The American people gave Donald Trump and Republicans a historic mandate – and historic opportunity – to advance a commonsense, conservative agenda. This election was a fierce rejection of the Biden-Harris Administration and their out-of-touch, radical agenda. Iowans' and Americans' primary concerns are the economy and the border. President Trump and Republicans offered real solutions to those kitchen table challenges. Kamala Harris said there wasn’t a single thing she would change about the last four years of failed policies and paid millions of dollars for celebrity appearances and concerts. Now, Republicans have the opportunity to enact meaningful policy changes to get our great country back on track. Though we have a slim majority in the House, I will do everything in my power to advance the America First agenda and help lower inflation, secure the border, and unleash American energy. We have a lot of work to do. I believe President Trump will hit the ground running immediately, hopefully reversing some of Biden’s executive actions on the border and energy. And I know he will start rooting out some of the deep state corruption and bureaucratic nonsense in Washington that wastes taxpayer time and money. Over the past two years, I’ve been proud to work on a commonsense, conservative policy agenda in the House – an agenda that the American people clearly support. From legislation to maintain tax cuts, stand up for parents, protect girls’ sports, cut regulations, secure the border, and ensure illegal immigrants don’t register to vote – I’m confident our Republican majority will find conservative consensus around these key issues for the American people. I came into Congress under total Democrat control. I am proud of the ways I’ve delivered for Iowa even when in the minority – pushing back on harmful policies while still finding common ground to pass bills to improve veterans’ mental health and maternal health. My philosophy has not changed – I will work with anyone who will work with me to do what is best for Iowa, and I am so optimistic for the future of Iowa and the future of our country under President Trump and a Republican majority.
