Email from Rep. Carter My work in TX-31 and Congress Howdy Texan – Serving you in the United States House is one of my greatest honors. I look forward to working closely with President-elect Donald Trump to secure the border, take care of America's veterans, and strengthen our national security to keep the homeland safe. This was the first week back in Congress after a district work period, so I wanted to update you on my work on behalf of Texas' 31st district. ON THE DOCKET: Congressional Veteran Commendation Field of Honor What do you think? Meeting with President-elect Trump and House Republicans THE BRIEF: Here’s who’s on the list for President-elect Trump's administration Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday he will not support any tuition increases at Texas colleges and universities in the next two years, continuing the tuition freeze currently in place. Senate Minority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., is planning to make ushering in President-Elect Donald Trump's immigration agenda the first item on his to-do list when he succeeds Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., in the new Congress, when Republicans will have a majority in both the upper chamber and the House. CONGRESSIONAL VETERAN COMMENDATION Over Veterans Day weekend, I hosted my annual Congressional Veterans Commendation ceremony at Temple College. I started the Congressional Veterans Commendation (CVC) program to honor those individuals that have honorably served our nation and then continued their service to our community. FIELD OF HONOR Over Veterans Day weekend, I also participated in the opening ceremony for the Field of Honor in Georgetown, TX. This moving display features thousands of flags representing America's heroes. Without our veterans, America would not be what it is today. The Field of Honor display is open until November 17th. RFK Jr. has touted his "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) plan to conquer the chronic illness epidemic, remove toxins from the food supply, and address corporate influence in the health agencies. Do you support Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s plan to Make America Healthy Again? Yes No THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTON Congressman Carter joins his Republican colleagues and special guest Elon Musk at first meeting with President-elect Trump. Credit: Bloomberg. It was a busy first week back in Washington. I joined my Republican colleagues in a meeting with President-elect Trump to discuss priorities for the next four years. House Republicans also held their leadership elections with Speaker Mike Johnson earning the support of the conference to continue his assignment. While his speakership for the 119th Congress isn't official until we vote on the House floor in January, House Republicans are united and ready to work to implement an America First agenda. As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and privilege.
