Happy Friday! It’s been a busy week back in Washington. As co-chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I joined my colleagues for a meeting with the US Surgeon General to discuss addressing gun violence as a public health emergency. As we wrap up the 118th Congress and prepare for the next Congress, I remain committed to serving the best interests of the Second District.

Supporting Small Businesses

In 2023, about 175,000 new businesses started in Illinois. I want to continue to provide opportunities for our local entrepreneurs to thrive.

I will be at the Chicago Urban League on Friday, November 22nd at 3pm to speak about the Business Reducing Impact on the Environment grant. This program offers free on-site assessments for small businesses to help owners reduce their impact on the environment and create a healthier workplace. Learn more information here.

Protect Birth Control

Everyone deserves access to birth control, but that freedom is being challenged. That's why I introduced the Access to Birth Control Access Act to protect people's decisions to purchase birth control, over-the-counter and prescription, at their local pharmacies. On Thursday, I observed #ThxBirthControl Day to highlight my commitment to protecting your reproductive rights, especially in light of recent challenges and attacks.

Veteran's Day

This week, we recognized our brave veterans across the country. I am committed to honoring the 36,000 veterans in the Second District and ensuring that they receive their well-earned benefits. To all the men and women who served: thank you for your sacrifice and service.
