This week, we honored our veterans and all who have served. Our country has a sacred obligation to ensure the health and success of our veterans, and as Ranking Member for the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I will continue to work with all of my colleagues to ensure that obligation is upheld. On Saturday, I participated in the 16th Annual “A Salute to Veterans” Parade and Expo held in downtown Riverside, and on Monday, I spent Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery. There, we heard from President Biden about how he has delivered for our nation’s veterans – like signing my bill, the Honoring our PACT Act. I am incredibly proud that the Department of Veterans Affairs has already approved roughly 1.3 million claims under this law. | In addition to November being the month we celebrate Veterans Day, we also commemorate National Veterans Small Business Week, National Military Family Month, and Warrior Care Month. | National Veterans Small Business Week During the first week of November, we celebrated National Veterans Small Business Week, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit of our veteran-owned small businesses. These individuals bring leadership, innovation, and a drive to succeed to our economy, creating jobs, and boosting local communities. This week is a reminder to support these businesses year-round and recognize their contributions to our economic strength. National Military Family Month Throughout November, National Military Family Month honors the families who support our servicemembers. Military families face unique challenges, from deployments to frequent relocations, and they remain a cornerstone of strength and resilience for both servicemembers and our nation. This month, we are reminded to show gratitude and find ways to support these families that serve alongside their loved ones in uniform. November also brings Warrior Care Month, which focuses on the recovery and reintegration of wounded, ill, and injured servicemembers and veterans. This month, we recognize the importance of care and resources for these warriors, including medical support, mental health services, and family assistance. It’s a time to honor their bravery in overcoming new battles and their inspiring journeys toward healing and adaptation. There is much more work to be done to make sure all veterans and their loved ones are supported and have the resources they are entitled to. I will keep doing that work. | Sign up for my newsletter to get updates on this issue and others! | Washington DC 2078 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 p 202.225.2305 f 202.225.7018 | Riverside County 3403 10th Street, Suite 610 Riverside, CA 92501 p 951.222.0203 f 951.222.0217 | |
