John, like millions, the Presidential Election results made my heart drop. I spent too long refreshing the news, caught in a sense of despair I hadn't felt in a long time.
We face a troubling reality: Our country has chosen to embrace a dangerous leader in Donald Trump, and Florida fell short of codifying abortion rights.
These four years will be challenging, with significant setbacks for progress on climate change, gun violence, housing, civil and human rights, and economic equity. And all that while, Trump will continue to thrive on fear, scapegoating marginalized communities while the ultra-wealthy evade accountability for the real issues of working people and the poor.
Fear is a powerful motivator, John. But it is often short-lived.
Even in my deep disappointment, I believe our struggle will never succumb to despair. The blood of our ancestors and the resilience of our souls remind us that a better world is always possible.
Hope is both a feeling and a choice. Though I did not wake up feeling hopeful after the election, now I choose hope. And I’m asking the same of you.
They want us to surrender our fight because that's when we truly lose. Instead, we’re going to unite to build a movement that rejects the politics of scarcity and embraces one of abundance and love. Will you defy the hatred Trump wants you to lean into, and instead become a monthly recurring donor to power our movement into our future?
