Democrat,
The past two weeks have been a reality that is incredibly hard to grasp as Democrats. You can read my full statement here [[link removed]] . But the biggest takeaway is that we have lessons to learn, that is the first step to achieving success next year and the years to follow. I say “we” and I truly mean that from the top to the bottom. As a party, we have done so much good work regarding social issues. But Democrats in our state legislature alone have also been responsible for passing legislation that benefits the working class and provided tax relief to homeowners and renters, but do New Jerseyans know that? We must educate voters on these successes not just during election season but every month of the year. And finally, we need to listen . Listen to activists who have been doing the work and pound the pavement in our own state. It is not lost on me that there is also a stark divide in our country and state that will take years to undo, hate. President-elect Donald Trump and MAGA have made it okay to hate. Fighting back against this hate will be our hardest obstacle to cross but I believe our grit and determination has never been stronger.

New Jersey is facing a Drought Warning due to historically low precipitation, above-average temperatures, and worsening water supply conditions, as announced by Governor Phil Murphy and DEP Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette. This situation has also led to a dramatic increase in wildfires, with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service responding to 537 wildfires since early October—over a 1,300% rise compared to last year. The state has experienced nearly 1,300 wildfires this year, burning over 11,000 acres, far exceeding the historical average.
“New Jersey is experiencing unprecedented weather conditions—as a result of climate change—that require us to take these precautionary measures now,” Governor Murphy said . “It can be challenging to adjust our daily habits, but it is imperative that we all work together, heed the guidance to conserve water, and use the utmost caution outdoors to reduce the risk of wildfire as dry conditions continue statewide.”

“I also spoke with Vice President Harris. She’s been a partner and a public servant. She ran an inspiring campaign, and everyone got to see something that I learned early on to respect so much: her character. She has a backbone like a ramrod. She has great character, true character. She gave her whole heart and effort, and she and her entire team should be proud of the campaign they ran,” said President Joe Biden .
