The Difference Between the Texas House and the Texas Senate

[[link removed]][link removed]

People ask me all the time about the difference between the Texas House and the Texas Senate. The difference is that the Speaker allows Democrats to control him on many important conservative issues. He kills a lot of conservative legislation by ensuring it never reaches the floor for a vote. And if it does get to the floor, he makes sure it’s watered down, killed on a point of order, or voted down—like he did with school choice.

He advances Democrat priorities, even though House Republicans are often overwhelmingly opposed to them.

Why? Because Democrats keep him in power.

The Texas Senate Is Ready to Pass School Choice

[[link removed]][link removed]

I have been fighting for school choice since my time as a Senator. As Lt. Governor, I passed it in my first session and five times since then. Each time, the Republican-led House blocked it. Now, after hard-fought primary and general election battles, the House should finally have the votes to pass it. You can read my official press release [[link removed]] for more details.

School Choice will be Senate Bill 2, behind only the budget. We will be ready in the Senate to pass it out immediately.

Setting the Record Straight

[[link removed]][link removed]

The media keeps raising the question and social media continues to spread fake news about me joining the Trump administration. I have stated clearly many times before: while it would be an honor to serve in President Trump’s cabinet, I am staying in Texas as Lt. Governor. My best opportunity to serve the people is right here. I love what I do.

I will continue to do all I can to help my friend, President Trump, succeed over the next four years, but I’ll do it from Texas.

We Will Secure the Border

Texas has always been committed to securing the border, and with President Trump and his administration’s support, we WILL secure the border. I joined Laura Ingraham on her program Thursday night to discuss. Click here to watch [[link removed]].

Republicans Have Reclaimed Control of Congress

[[link removed]]

Americans have spoken! Republicans have reclaimed control of Congress, with a majority in both the U.S. House AND Senate! With GOP leadership, we’re ready to stand firm against the extreme policies of the left and advance a stronger, more conservative agenda for America. #MAGA

Keynote Address at the Waco Chamber of Commerce’s State of the State Luncheon

[[link removed]]

The week before last, I had the honor of giving the keynote address at the Waco Chamber of Commerce’s State of the State Luncheon, where I shared a preview of the upcoming 89th Legislative Session. Rest assured, the Texas Senate is ready to address the priorities of Texans.

I was joined by my great friend, Lt. Colonel Senator Brian Birdwell, and former U.S. Marshal, now McLennan County Sheriff, Parnell McNamara.

Thank you to everyone who attended!

Thank you all for your support and everything you do to keep Texas red. May God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the greatest state of all—Texas.

Sincerely,
