BJA 40th Anniversary
________________________________________________________________________

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Justice Assistance Act of 1984 that established the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). As we commemorate BJA’s 40th anniversary, we reflect on our past, look to the future of BJA, and recognize the people and organizations that have worked with BJA over the last 40 years to transform our nation’s criminal justice system. *Read a special blog post [ [link removed] ] from Director Moore on how BJA has transformed the criminal justice system over the past 40 years*.

Celebrating 40 Years of Advancing Safety and Justice

This summer, BJA announced its first-ever Excellence in the Field of Criminal Justice Awards, which recognize innovations in public safety and significant contributions to our nation’s criminal justice system. The awards were open to individuals, teams, organizations, and agencies.

“"For four decades, BJA has been a leader in transforming criminal justice",” said BJA Director Karhlton F. Moore. “"We are proud to honor those whose work has made all Americans safer and our justice system more equitable. And we are excited to see all that BJA will accomplish in the days and years ahead".”
