On January 11th, 1989, in his farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office, President Reagan spoke of how – through a resurgence of national pride – America’s spirit had returned. He offered what he called “lesson number one about America: All great change in America begins at the dinner table.” I agree with that sentiment wholeheartedly. We have seen that change come from millions of dinner tables across the nation within the past week, and I believe – as I am sure you do – that we are amid a new resurgence of national pride. This resurgence is very much overdue – that much is abundantly clear. With President Trump back at the helm come January, and Republicans having secured majorities in the People’s House and the United States Senate, America will be on a better and more prosperous path.
In his remarks on Tuesday of this week, Speaker Johnson laid out our plan for the road ahead:
Republicans in the House and Senate have a mandate. It’s true, it was a decisive win across the nation. The American people want us to implement and deliver that America First agenda, and we must do that while we have that energy and that excitement, beginning on the very first day of the Congress in the new year.
Here are just a few of the priorities that we will look to tackle:
- Securing the border.
- Lowering costs for gas and groceries.
- Unleashing American energy dominance.
- Safeguarding education freedom.
- Bolstering America’s economic prowess.
Of course, there remains a great deal of work left to complete before the 118th Congress ends, and I’m laser focused – and still working as hard as I can – to deliver for you.
