John,
Donald Trump being President again is disturbing for a variety of reasons.
But let’s get into what he *really* represents. He is the epitome of white mediocrity. Of white men who fail upwards.
He can spew the most racist crap ever, lie through his teeth, stumble his way through a presidency, and still win re-election.
He can be indicted for 34 counts of falsifying business records tied to hush money payments but doesn’t lose his right to vote, to receive financial aid, the ability to hold public office, housing access, and more.
No, that only happens to everyday people if they’re convicted of even one felony – which we know are majority Black and brown folks.
He can go bankrupt time and time again but still be seen as the picture of American success and as a businessman to look up to.
No matter what Donald Trump does and no matter what disastrous policies he ushers into office next, he will never be held accountable.
He is the walking, talking, living embodiment of white privilege.
Black men and women know that to succeed, we have to do ten, a hundred, sh*t even a thousand times more. And even then, our achievements and successes are on a knife’s edge.
No matter what Trump tries once he’s back in office, we’ll be ready to call him out and respond. We’re not going to let him or anyone get in the way of our fight for Black liberation. Can you help us by chipping in anything you can right now?
