Overview: The national networks have projected the House of Representatives for the Republicans to hold a majority of seats in the next Congress. However, President-elect Trump is filling cabinet seats, with some candidates coming from the House, so the final count of House seats for each party at the start of the new session remains to be seen.
DHS Webinar on the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NPSG): The Department of Homeland Security will offer two webinars on the NPSG, which provides funding to protect faith-based institutions and nonprofit organizations against targeted attacks. For FY 2024, Congress appropriated $664 million for the NSGP, more than double last year's appropriation. The webinars will be held on Nov. 14th and 21st at 3:00 pm EST. They will not be recorded, and each will repeat the same information. Due to the high demand for these webinars, please only register for/attend one of the following events. Economy: In the week ending November 9, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims ([link removed]) was 217,000, a decrease of 4,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 221,000. The 4-week moving average was 221,000, a decrease of 6,250 from the previous week's unrevised average of 227,250.
