It's time to Kick Big Polluters Out!
|
Dear Friend,
Whether you live in a city experiencing record heat waves, a rural community dealing with unprecedented droughts and wildfires, or an island that is disappearing because of rising sea levels, so many of us are experiencing the impacts of the climate crisis, especially those on the frontlines, Indigenous communities, and folks in the Global South. Something else we all have in common? We all believe that everyone deserves a livable planet for generations to come.
But corporate interests from polluting industries like oil and gas, agribusiness, and more have a vested interest in undermining any action that will meaningfully address the climate crisis because it will hurt their profits. And today, the Kick Big Polluters Out coalition just released research exposing the disturbing fact that there are over 1,770 of these Big Polluters officially taking part in the U.N. climate talks that are happening right now in Baku, Azerbaijan. In fact fossil fuel lobbyists have received more passes to attend the climate talks than all the delegates from the ten most climate-vulnerable nations combined. And they are using the talks to advance a corporate agenda that will keep the world hooked on fossil fuels, and destroy millions of lives.
These Big Polluters may have an outsized voice at the talks, but we refuse to let that go unchallenged. Members of the global campaign to Kick Big Polluters Out are on the ground at the climate talks right now. Today, they’re holding a global day of action demanding that Big Polluters be kicked out of the talks. Will you join them?
Add your name and ask that the U.N. Secretary-General continue to take a strong stance against the fossil fuel industry and demand that the U.N. climate talks establish policies to keep Big Polluters from having a seat at the table during the talks going forward.
