As Shabbat’s holy rest approaches, I wanted to share some light with you and our courageous movement.

I look at the photographs from our election work this year and think: we showed up as Jews and allies with a clear moral voice to fight for our futures. We overcame attempts at division and despair to talk to our neighbors and strengthen our democracy. Kol hakavod (congratulations) to us.

I know that many of us are facing this next chapter with sadness and fear about what we expect to unfold. As we shared earlier this week, our work is already under attack — with bills like HR9495 threatening the existence of our social justice organizations.

Remaining courageous, pooling our resources, recognizing our wins (both big and small), and taking action together will continue to be critical in the days to come.

We know how to take care of ourselves and our neighbors; our ancestors showed us again and again. As Shabbat arrives and we wish peace and light to each other, we’re doing it right now.
