John,
A recent New York Times investigation found that bullets made for the Pentagon were used in at least 12 high-profile mass shootings; at Buffalo, at Aurora, at Parkland, at Vegas, and at Uvalde.
Despite this, the Pentagon is STILL allowing the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant to pump “billions of rounds of military-grade ammunition into the commercial market.”
We need to take action now, before this recklessness shatters another community. Add your name to tell Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to stop contracting with companies that sell military-grade ammunition to civilians.
The Pentagon contracts with Olin Winchester, which operates the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, which is now one of the country’s largest manufacturers of commercial rounds for AR-15s. Any ammunition not purchased by the military can be sold commercially to anyone — but it’s finding its way into the hands of dangerous people.
Senators Elizabeth Warren, Alex Padilla, Mazie Hirono, and Reps. Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia have highlighted this dangerous partnership, but we need immediate action to be taken to keep our communities safe.
Please, join us and take action today by adding your name to our petition: Demand that Secretary Austin stop contracting with companies that sell military-grade ammunition to civilians.
Thank you,
Democratic Values
