With key wins in North Carolina this past election, we have an opportunity to double down on our state-level approach to fight for safer communities. We will organize to keep North Carolina’s concealed carry weapons permitting system in place, advocate to increase local and state funding for community programs, and rally supporters to oppose dangerous legislation like arming teachers.
We know the Trump administration is poised to roll back decades of progress that will impact North Carolinians. Gun dealers could be emboldened to sell to prohibited purchasers or skip background checks without fear of prosecution. Vital federal funding for Community Violence Intervention Programs may be cut—leaving communities without the resources to address the root causes of gun violence. Misinformation will prohibit common sense gun laws and policies from being enacted.
We have held this line before, and we will do it again—we are ready to fight back.
