Company Fraudulently Claiming Association With Free Speech Coalition

Free Speech Coalition has been alerted that a nude art photography site has contacted at least one FSC member, claiming to have obtained their contact information “through the Free Speech Coalition.” Free Speech Coalition has not and will not share, sell or otherwise publicly post member information. We have contacted the company demanding they cease and desist spreading false information using our name or otherwise claiming connection with FSC. If you have received or do receive such a solicitation, please let us know immediately by reaching out to [email protected].
Attorneys in Kansas Seeking Plaintiffs To Sue Adult Companies

A personal injury law firm is actively courting potential plaintiffs in Kansas, using the state’s age-verification law to dangle the prospect of large financial judgments from adult companies. The firm identified by FSC is openly employing church networks to reach potential plaintiffs. In Kansas, simple access of an adult website by a minor may be enough to bring a civil case with statutory damages — no proof of actual harm is required. Under the law, claims for statutory damages begin at $50,000. The state’s attorney general is separately empowered to bring litigation. Read more on our blog.

“Mike Stabile, of adult industry lobbying group Free Speech Coalition, said that, when the Christian right is empowered, they invariably come after adult content. ‘It’s a way into a larger sort of censorship agenda,’ Stabile said. ‘They believe that pornography, LGBTQ rights, women’s sexuality, are all tied together.
