Donald Trump’s appointment nominees are rolling in, John, and all we can do is sigh and shake our heads.
Here’s a roundup of who Trump plans to place in some of the highest leadership positions possible in the U.S. government:
Attorney General? Matt Gaetz.
Gaetz defended Trump-inspired white supremacists who attempted a coup on January 6th (the double standard is real), calls DEI racist, and is currently being investigated by the House Ethics Committee for serious allegations of sexual misconduct.
Secretary of Defense? Pete Hegseth.
A weekend Fox News host has said “The Pentagon likes to say ‘our diversity is our strength.’ What a bunch of garbage” among other inflammatory and racist statements on air.
Homeland Security Secretary? Kristi Noem.
The Governor of South Dakota tried to ban critical race theory. She also said that the country is facing “a time of invasion.”
And these are just some of his potential appointments.
These are the people that Trump wants to run government agencies and build and shape policies that will affect our everyday lives.
It’s clear that Trump is building an extremist, racist, leadership that will only bring greater levels of anti-Blackness and white supremacy to our lives.
These systems weren’t built to serve us and it shows in how they function against us. Trump and his circle of racists are only going to make that worse.
As we take the news of these nominations in, we’re prepared to fight back. Join us today by supporting Black Lives Matter. We’re not going to back down.
In solidarity,
Black Lives Matter
Our grassroots movement is pushing for Black liberation every single day. We are striving to create a world where Black people do so much more than just survive. It’s time we thrive.
As an organization one of our biggest hurdles is consistency.
A recurring contribution of anything you can afford goes a long way as we plan for the months, years, and even decades ahead. This is the most effective way for small-dollar donors (like you) to power our Black liberation work.
Will you make a recurring contribution of $5 or more today so that we can keep building momentum for our movement?
