Our fight for gun safety legislation in January begins now!
Fellow Advocate,
Our new Pennsylvania legislative session begins in just a few short weeks in early January. As I told you last week, our slim gun safety majority held power in the PA House and will set the agenda next session.
After Trump’s election, I know most of us are feeling a lot of righteous anger and frustration that we’re looking to channel into resistance. The most impactful way to do this is by advocating at the state level, and demanding our legislators make gun safety a top priority to counter the backsliding we expect at the federal level.
This isn’t our first legislative session. We’ve learned how to choose our battles and work across the aisle to achieve gun safety policies for all Pennsylvanians. As House Majority Leader Matt Bradford said, “We’re not just just going to retread the last session and run into the same walls. We’re going to keep turning the Rubik’s Cube with our Senate Republican colleagues.”1
It’s time to get our lawmakers on the record supporting gun safety legislation now, before we all get lost in the flurry of holidays. Our movement has power in numbers, and a majority in the House, so it’s time we used our political capital to make real change and pass life-saving bills to end gun violence in PA.
