Immigrant communities in the U.S. will face unprecedented threats in the upcoming years—from mass deportations and raids, to the separation of families, to the dismantling of our asylum system, and much more. With these threats will come a staggering increase in the need for legal representation to defend the rights of immigrants.
For the past year, We The Action has been working with immigration law experts and organizations to enhance the ability of our network to help these communities. In the months and years to come, you can expect to see more opportunities to support immigrants.

Family Reunification Project for Unaccompanied Immigrant Children ([link removed])
VECINA
With thousands of unaccompanied immigrant children currently detained, lawyers are needed to help reunite them with their families and/or sponsors in the U.S. Training and mentorship are provided, and experience with immigration law is not necessary. This is a remote opportunity, and lawyers may be barred in any state.

Represent Unaccompanied Children in their Immigration Matters (San Francisco) ([link removed])
KIND
Unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children across California need lawyers to represent them in deportation hearings and help them navigate the immigration process. Lawyers are needed on-site in San Francisco. Lawyers must be barred in California. Spanish language proficiency is preferred.

Help an Immigrant Child Gain Legal Status in the U.S. and Protect Them From Deportation ([link removed])
Safe Passage Project
A 12-year-old boy from Honduras who resides with his mother, siblings, and cousin in Brooklyn came to the US after his grandparents could no longer care for him. He wants to remain in the US, where he feels safe with his mother and can pursue his education. A volunteer is needed to help him petition for Special Immigrant Juvenile status based on being abandoned by his father. Training is provided, and lawyers must be barred in New York. Spanish language proficiency is preferred.

Represent Family of Survivor of Ciudad Juarez Fire in Removal and Asylum Proceedings in Dallas ([link removed])
Institute for Women in Migration/Instituto para las Mujeres en la Migracion (IMUMI)
In March 2023, a massive fire broke out in a Mexican immigration detention, killing 40 migrants and severely injuring and disabling 27 others. One of the family members/caretakers of a survivor from El Salvador is living in Dallas, having entered the U.S. on humanitarian parole. She is facing deportation and needs representation to seek termination of her removal proceedings and assist her in affirmatively applying for asylum. This is an on-site project in Dallas, and lawyers may be barred in any state. Spanish language proficiency is required.

Help Afghan Women Seek Asylum ([link removed])
Afghan Refugee Sanctuary Network (ARSN)
ARSN needs lawyers to monitor and guide immigrants through the various immigration documents needed to obtain asylum in the U.S. and file parole application and other documents to the USCIS. This is a remote project, and lawyers may be barred in any state. Dari or Pashto language proficiency are preferred.
