SF Chronical reporter, Megan Fan Munce, will address the virtual meeting at a talk moderated by Wendy Lucas Wood, PhD of the Karuna Center California Climate Leadership Dialogue. Megan reports on California's home insurance crisis as a part of the SF Chronicle's climate change team.

Governor Newsom convenes a special session of the Legislature to protect California values


Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a proclamation convening a special session of the California Legislature starting Dec. 2, 2024 to safeguard California values and fundamental rights in the face of an incoming Trump administration. The special session will focus on bolstering California legal resources to protect civil rights, reproductive freedom, climate action, and immigrant families.

California Addresses Global Summit on Climate Change, Calling for More Urgent Action


During the 29th annual United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP) negotiation, California Natural Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot represented subnational governments from around the world calling for faster, bolder action to combat climate change.

The EDC Dems are proud to announce Sponsorship of the 19th Annual Fred Winn Democratic Essay Contest for High School Juniors and Seniors from all public high schools in the El Dorado County High School District.


Students need to submit their essays no later than January 31, 2025 and fill out and sign the contest form.


Winners will be awarded their prizes between March and April.
