Last month on Washington’s Anton Creek, crews wrapped up work on Wild Salmon Center's most ambitious restoration project yet on the Olympic Peninsula. At 72 feet long and 24 feet wide, Anton Creek’s new culvert is sized for the flood events of the future. And it fixes a years-long fish passage barrier for the creek’s salmon, steelhead, and lamprey—permanently reopening access to miles of excellent habitat. (Within minutes of project completion, we spotted juvenile lamprey making their way upstream.) Here's how we’re sizing restoration work for long-term success.

The results are in: this was a change election in the United States. As jarring as these political moments can be, we’ve been here before. As Wild Salmon Center has transitioned from administration to administration, we’ve learned a few things about how to remain effective and laser-focused on our mission. First, we’ve learned that it’s critical to have support from leaders across the political spectrum. Second: we see the power of a shared story, grounded in science.
