JVP Backgrounder.

Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) is the largest and most influential anti-Zionist Jewish group in the United States. On campus, there are approximately 30 JVP chapters that are active, working closely with fellow anti-Israel student group Students for Justice in Palestine to promote anti-Israel initiatives, messages and events. As a new report by ADL notes, JVP “promulgates the view that Jews who identify even tangentially with Israel are motivated by white supremacy, Jewish racial chauvinism and religious supremacism.” JVP is also part of a campaign to force universities to ban Hillel on college campuses.

SUNY Downstate Medical Center. A panel co-sponsored by Students for Justice in Palestine at the SUNY Downstate Medical center is facing backlash for its inflammatory claims of “healthcare genocide” in Gaza. The event, titled “

CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY : The Decimation of Palestinian Healthcare in the Ongoing Genocide and the Continuing Legacy of Settler-Colonialism,” reeks of anti-Jewish propaganda, accusing Israel of “decimating” Palestinian healthcare. Outrage has surged within the American Jewish Medical Association, with one doctor describing the lecture as “antisemitic... a blood libel leveled at the Jewish nation. It’s medical propaganda.” This disturbing, blatant antisemitism and anti-Israel propaganda should not be tolerated and SUNY should consider suspending or banning SJP from campus, as some other colleges have chosen to do.

Case Western Reserve. Authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with

recent vandalism at Case Western Reserve University, where campus buildings, tables, and artwork were defaced with spray-painted messages, including phrases like “Free Palestine.” University officials described some of the language and symbols used as antisemitic. The suspects, aged 19 to 22, face felony vandalism charges and are being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail. Case Western Reserve emphasized that the incident is under active criminal investigation and would not comment further on the case or what specifically was found.

Pitt. Efforts to form a

committee addressing campus antisemitism at the University of Pittsburgh faced delays after the Faculty Assembly postponed the vote to December, citing concerns over the committee’s definitions and scope. Proposed following recent attacks on Jewish students, the committee’s formation sparked debate, with some faculty arguing it overlooked other targeted groups. Bridget Keown, co-chair of the university’s Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Advocacy Committee, introduced a motion to delay the vote, which passed. Jewish students voiced their anger over the decision, with Ilan Gordon, one of the students attacked in August questioning the delay: “We’re just
going to wait another month for another Jewish student to be assaulted before making a decision... What are we doing? Why are you all stalling? There needs to be a change now. This is ridiculous.”

Chicago. Max Long and Michael Kaminsky, the two students who were brutally attacked at DePaul University in what is now being investigated as a hate crime,

spoke out about the state of antisemitism on college campuses. Kaminsky and Long, an IDF soldier who responded to the attacks on October 7th, launched their own advocacy campaign following last year's anti-Israel protests on college campuses across the country. "There is another front to this war and it’s back here. It’s the war on college campuses," Long said. The attack happened while the two were advocating for Israel on campus through peaceful, open conversations. While Long suffered a concussion and Kaminsky a broken wrist, they are not backing down from their efforts. "We will definitely go back out there," says Kaminsky. "We are more resilient than ever."

No Silent Notes Here. Singer-songwriter John Ondrasik, best known as the frontman for Five for Fighting, recently took to Cornell’s Bailey Hall to express solidarity with the Jewish community and

call out rising antisemitism on college campuses. Joined by actress Patricia Heaton via video, Ondrasik used his music to underscore the importance of speaking out against hate. “Free Palestine has become the greatest con job,” he told the audience, describing college campuses as a “ground zero for antisemitism.” Despite not mincing words, Ondrasnik still has hope for the future, as long as people speak up for what they believe.

pro-Israel rally to express solidarity with Israel amid rising global antisemitism. While some students struggled with balancing academic commitments, they emphasized the importance of standing with Israel and demonstrating support. One of the students said, “It was important to go to this rally to show our brothers and sisters in Israel that we stand together with them and we care about them.”
