Plus: We've launched our General Election Manifesto
Hi John,
The General Election is now just a couple of weeks away. With so many issues competing for attention, it’s really important that we make sure youth work and young people are a central issue in this election.
One of the best ways to do this is to ask the right questions when candidates or their canvassers come to your door.
We’ve put together a quick guide with some questions you can ask. These will help candidates see just how much youth work changes lives.

The guide will help you ask constructive, challenging questions about how candidates intend to support the youth work sector. It also shows you how to tailor the questions if you get a sitting TD calling to your door.

Today, we’re also launching our General Election Manifesto, ‘Give young people a seat at the table,’ with these key priorities:
📢 New Youth Structures: Set up a Ministry for Youth, a Cabinet Sub-Committee for Youth, and an Oireachtas Committee for Youth.
⚡ Address Youth Challenges: Extend the voting age to 16/17 and tackle big issues from our “State of Our Young Nation” Report.
💶 Restore Funding: Bring youth work funding back to pre-austerity levels, adjusted for inflation and growth, and include fair pay for youth workers.
We need your help to spread the word! Please share these posts about our manifesto asks on Instagram ([link removed]) , LinkedIn ([link removed]) , Twitter ([link removed]) or Facebook ([link removed]) .
Every conversation counts, every vote matters.
I’d love to hear your feedback on the question guide and our manifesto John, just reply and tell me your thoughts.
Warm regards
Grace
NYCI
P.S. If you’d like to do more, we've also launched our Election Manifesto toolkit ([link removed]) to help you take action during the General Election – from engaging candidates to supporting young people to vote.
