Dear John,

Winter may not be here yet, but for millions of refugees and displaced people facing winter far from home, they are already dreading the most difficult time of year. For families who’ve been forced to flee conflict and persecution – leaving homes, belongings and incomes behind – staying warm this winter will be a constant struggle.

In places like Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria, UNHCR is already on the ground, supporting families during the most critical time of year, helping them prepare for the arrival of low temperatures, storms and snow.

You can help protect families from the cold this winter with a regular donation.

By giving a regular, monthly donation to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, you’ll be making an incredible difference to refugees. You’ll not only help us to prepare for winter ahead of time, but support families throughout the whole of the winter, and beyond.

Your donations will be used where they can help the most, from shelter and medical care to cash grants to help pay for essentials like rent, fuel and warm clothing.

With your help, we can get ahead of the harsh winter weather. We can help make vital repairs to bomb-blasted homes, we can provide heaters and warm blankets, and we can even build sturdy new homes in earthquake-prone areas. We can also get supplies to families living in makeshift shelters and remote areas before the worst weather arrives and communities become cut off completely.

Provide a lifeline to people facing winter far from home. Support UNHCR today.

📢 Do you know that COP29 is happening this week?

As global leaders gather to tackle the climate crisis, we are reminded that while temperatures, waters, and tensions are rising, refugee numbers are rising too. Displaced families are on the front lines, facing worsening conditions as winter approaches. Let’s act together to support them, ensuring they have warmth, security, and hope through these difficult months. Together, we can make a difference for those most impacted by climate change.
