The system is broken and out of control, John:

Jeff Bezos photo and headline aboout projections that he will be a trillionaire in just a few years

Yes, you read that right. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is reportedly on track to become the world's first trillionaire in the next few years — and the pandemic causing death and misery for millions right now is only speeding up his progress.1

And at the same time that their profits are soaring, Amazon is now saying that they will be dropping the pay raise for essential warehouse workers that they introduced at the start of this pandemic. That's insane.

Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has already stated that his top priority in any new legislation is to shield corporations from liability if their workers get sick on the job. That's a slap in the face to every one of us — including essential workers at places like Amazon who are being forced to go to work through this pandemic.

More than 80,000 Americans and counting have lost their lives to COVID-19. That includes essential workers like James Andres, a 60-year-old grocery store worker in Michigan who died after contracting COVID-19. He's the fifth Kroger employee in Michigan to die after contracting the disease just after the grocery store chain announced plans to roll back its $2/hour "hero bonus."2

We need to do everything we can right now to give workers what they need and what we owe them: paid sick leave, continued hazard pay, protections for whistleblowers who speak out against dangerous work conditions, and more. Over 75% of Americans support protecting our essential workers — it's time to act.

Add your name to our petition calling on Congress to pass an Essential Workers Bill of Rights immediately.

In solidarity,

Working Families Party
