John, after last week's results, I wanted to reach out and say just a few things:
It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve Illinois' 3rd District in Congress, and I am so proud and so grateful that the people of our district voted to send me back to DC to continue delivering for them. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you.
But last Tuesday was also a dark day for our country — Donald Trump's victory in the presidential race and Republicans' hold on the legislature led to a lot of feelings of despair, anger, and fear for what comes next.
What I do know for sure is that the coming weeks and months are going to demand so much of us. We need to take all the action we can to protect our communities and democratic institutions from the retribution and violence Trump has promised.
Ultimately, Democrats need to learn from this moment. If we want to be the party of unity and coalition, we have to recommit ourselves to the progressive, working people-centered policies that are widely popular across the country and build the progressive movement to ensure a dark day like today never happens again.
While the future looks bleak in the continued face of MAGA extremism, I won't waver in my commitment to advocating for what our communities need most: legislation that'll support our working families, access to reproductive freedom, and a government free of dark money's influence.
And regardless of what comes next, I'm rooted in my community, and more than ready to fight for what's right. I hope you'll continue to stand with me. Consider giving a recurring contribution of even just $3 today >>
In solidarity,
Congresswoman Delia Ramirez
