** Dear Friend,
------------------------------------------------------------
Every year, our Evening Over Violence gala brings our community together to support Peace Over Violence. To more wisely shepherd our limited resources, we’ve decided not to hold the event this year. Instead, we invite you to enjoy a peaceful Evening Over Violence At Home.
Rather than purchasing a ticket or sponsorship for an event, we are asking you to directly sponsor our programs. POV served more than 25,000 individuals and reached millions through our awareness campaigns like Denim Day last year. We hope you will consider a donation today; our services are critically needed and our waiting list has increased.
Your financial contribution can make an impact in the lives of survivors and their families, especially their children. Help us facilitate their healing by ensuring that they have access to dedicated advocates, legal assistance, housing aid, and trauma-informed counseling. Support our mission of building safer communities by educating children, youth, and families about healthy relationships and violence prevention strategies, including gun violence prevention, self-defense and safety, and more.
We all wish for safety, security and serenity in our homes. As you enjoy a peaceful evening at home, we invite you to remember that survivors and their families—who may be as close as your neighbors—are seeking that same security. Please contribute today and let’s spread the peace together.

** “After all the violence I suffered in my marriage, my healing didn’t start until I went to Peace Over Violence for services. From calling the hotline, to being assigned a trauma therapist, to joining a support group with other women, I was able to truly begin my healing journey. It was one thing to leave my relationship and seek safety, but it was another to heal from the nightmares and the trauma. Peace Over Violence changed my life.”

------------------------------------------------------------
— A poem by Judyth Hill
Wage peace with your breath.
Breathe in firemen and rubble,
breathe out whole buildings and flocks of red wing blackbirds.
Breathe in terrorists
and breathe out sleeping children and freshly mown fields.
Breathe in confusion and breathe out maple trees.
Breathe in the fallen and breathe out lifelong friendships intact.
Wage peace with your listening: hearing sirens, pray loud.
Remember your tools: flower seeds, clothespins, clean rivers.
Make soup.
Play music, memorize the words for thank you in three languages.
Learn to knit, and make a hat.
Think of chaos as dancing raspberries,
imagine grief
as the outbreath of beauty
or the gesture of fish
Swim for the other side.
Wage peace.
Never has the world seemed so fresh and precious:
Have a cup of tea …and rejoice.
Act as if armistice has already arrived.
Celebrate today.
** Every contribution will receive a specially branded Peace Over Violence tea bag.
