John,
It’s hard to believe—but this coming Saturday, there is a special primary election for a race that will determine control of the Virginia State Senate. Winning this election means blocking an abortion ban from coming to Virginia and continuing the mission of enshrining reproductive rights in the state constitution.
Vote Pro-Choice is a year-round organization, which means that our work doesn’t slow down, no matter the circumstances.
Pro-choice champion Suhas Subramanyam just won his election for Congress, and now we’re proud to support Kannan Srinivasan to fill his State Senate seat in Loudon County.
In 2023, we helped pro-choice candidates sweep Virginia’s legislative elections, reclaiming the House of Delegates and defending a majority in the State Senate.
But if we lose this State Senate seat, anti-choice Republicans will control the chamber for three years. We can’t risk losing everything we’ve fought for.
Since the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, our path forward has always run through state and local elections. But now with anti-choice Republicans preparing to take control of the federal government, our mission to build state-based pro-choice power has never been more important.
Can you contribute $25 to help us continue our mission now and into 2025?
The last week was devastating, but we find hope through action. Trump and his cronies are counting on us to burn out, quiet down, and stay home.
But we’ve been in a tough fight for the future of abortion rights long before last week. We didn’t give up after the 2016 election, during the height of the 2020 pandemic, or when Roe was overturned in 2022, and we won’t give up now.
Thanks for being in this fight with us,
Sara Tabatabaie
