Below I have a variety of information for veterans in this email, including where I was on Veterans Day, how you can attend a Veterans Discount ID event, and information on my Veterans Breakfast next Friday, which you can still register for! I also have more information on new grant funding announcements, our Winter Collection Drive with drop-off locations, and more dates for the Perkiomen Mapping & Flood Mitigation Study, which had its first public meeting on Tuesday.

| | $1.6 Million in Recreation, Conservation, and Community Spaces Grants Secured
| | Congratulations to Upper Providence Township, Lower Providence Township, and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society for receiving grants through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program. I’m always proud to support our municipalities and see funding channeled back into our communities. These grants assist local governments, as well as recreation and conservation organizations, with funding.
Upper Providence Township: $362,500
Upper Providence will receive $362,500 for the development of Taylor Park. This includes the construction of internal loop trail and parking area, ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
Lower Providence Township: $242,900
Lower Providence Township will receive $242,900 for the rehabilitation and further development of Redtail Park. This includes the renovation of a parking area; construction of comfort station, pedestrian walkways and internal loop trail; installation of utilities; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
Montgomery, Delaware and Philadelphia: Pennsylvania Horticultural Society: $1,000,000
Coordinate Urban and Community Forestry in the city of Philadelphia and southeastern Pennsylvania; engage communities in planting trees and build local tree stewardship capacity in Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Work to include an electronic written summary report.

| | I’m thrilled to announce that my 4th Annual Winter Collection is live now through Friday, Dec. 13! We are collecting winter clothing items, food, care products, and more for Daily Bread Community Food Pantry and St. James Outreach House.

| | Woodland Elementary Book Reading for Veterans Day
| | | On Monday, I traveled to Woodland Elementary in Methacton School District to speak and read to students at their Veterans Day assembly. It was my privilege to honor the veteran family members of students that were present, receive thank you notes and artwork from the students, and read Valerie Pfundstein’s “Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood” during the school’s assembly.
| | | On Friday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds, Jeanne Sorg, is hosting a Veterans Discount ID event at Daniels Lawn and Garden, 1457 Sumneytown Pike, Harleysville.
Veterans should bring their DD214 and a photo ID card to receive their discount ID card.

| | Perkiomen Mapping & Flood Mitigation Study
| | Last night was the first public meeting for the Perkiomen Mapping & Flood Mitigation Study at Upper Providence Township Building. We hope to see you at the next public meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Pennridge North Middle School. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a formal presentation beginning at 7 p.m.
The Perkiomen Mapping & Flood Mitigation Study is a collaboration between county planning commissions and conservation districts, local municipalities, the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy, my office, and other organizations to help address flooding issues throughout the entire Perkiomen Creek watershed which includes Montgomery, Bucks, Berks, and Lehigh counties.
The last public meeting scheduled will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 at Upper Perkiomen High School.

| | Open Enrollment for Pennie
| | Pennie has officially opened enrollment for the 2025 period, which runs from Nov. 1, 2024, to Jan. 15, 2025. During this period, individuals and families can enroll in health insurance plans, make changes to their existing coverage, or renew their current plans.
During Open Enrollment, Pennie’s hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
