Team,

I won’t mince words: The re-election of Donald Trump is a brutal blow to our communities, our planet, and the immense progress we’ve made to advance climate justice and protect our democracy.

In this moment of uncertainty, it’s never been more important to take care of ourselves and hold space for each other, especially for our most vulnerable neighbors who will feel the deepest impact of a Trump administration.

We’re grieving what would have been a historic presidency under Vice President Kamala Harris and a White House committed to bold climate action.

But we’re also gearing up to fight back.

We remain encouraged by the climate action being taken by states across the country, including strides we made at home this election. 85% of California Environmental Voters-endorsed candidates won, with several races still too close to call.

And our biggest wins showed that oil money is toxic in California. In our state, voters backed proven climate champions up and down the ballot, and we’re thrilled to be sending advocates like Sasha Renee Perez, Sade Elhawary, and Patrick Ahrens to Sacramento.

And in MAJOR news, Californians overwhelmingly voted 2-1 to invest in climate action by passing Proposition 4, a $10 billion climate bond that will fund wildfire prevention, clean water, and clean energy, amongst many other things.

No matter what, the fight for climate justice is alive and well in California.

These wins were only made possible because of your tireless advocacy and generous support.

We know the coming days and weeks will continue to carry a wide range of emotions, from anger to sadness to fear. We’re right there with you, team.

This incoming administration—sure to be filled with Trump’s cronies of climate change deniers—poses a harrowing threat to our planet and democracy, possibly the worst we’ve seen yet.

But Trump’s election doesn’t change the fact that the impacts of climate change are already upon us, and we as a country must continue to come together to address this crisis.

If you’re feeling inspired to take action right now, please consider making a contribution to our work. As we face the next four years of climate denialism, giveaways to Big Oil, and attacks on our democracy, we truly need all the help we can get.

Thank you for standing with us in these uncertain times—and please know that we’ll never stop fighting to defend and demand the climate action our communities deserve.
