John -- Care workers, house cleaners, nannies and other low-wage workers are among the hardest hit by the coronavirus crisis. They have no safety net. Bills are piling up.
So far Congress has failed to deliver the support domestic workers desperately need. Millions of undocumented workers have been cruelly excluded.
Critically: domestic workers who continue to provide essential services to keep families safe and cared for, are doing it with no extra federal support, compensation, or safety precautions to protect themselves.
This is a very, very hard time for one of the most vulnerable workforces in the country, but TOMORROW the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that addresses many of these urgent concerns.
John, please join us and ask your representative to stand with the most vulnerable workers in the country by supporting The Heroes Act right now!
No bill is perfect, but the Heroes Act is a significant first step to bringing much needed relief to millions of working families who have been left out of previous packages: including far too many domestic workers.
Maria, a house cleaner in Speaker Pelosi’s own district, has been ordered home for the last NINE weeks. Because she’s undocumented, Maria was excluded from the first federal relief packages, AND her three US citizen daughters have also been denied assistance because they’re in the same household.
The Heroes Act would ensure workers like Maria finally get desperately needed financial support, and more. It will provide premium pay for a broad group of essential workers, and expand access to coronavirus testing and treatment regardless of insurance coverage and citizenship status.
That’s no accident. Your calls, emails, tweets, and every other form of quarantine contact to our representatives helped shape this bill. Now we need to help get it passed.
John, will you join us and ask your representative to add their support to H.R. 6800, The Heroes Act, and stand with the most vulnerable workers in the country?
The road to recovery ultimately begins with people: all the essential workers who will heal and power our country forward. Congress must immediately pass this relief bill to begin to meet the urgent needs of working families and provide #CareForAll.
Thanks for all you do,
