** Well, that sucked
------------------------------------------------------------
We really don’t know what to say. More people than four years ago voted for Trump—and fewer people voted for Harris than for Biden. All the swing states that went for Biden in 2020 went for Trump this year. We lost, and it wasn’t close.

We weren’t surprised that Democrats lost the Senate. That was always a long shot just due to who was up for re-election and who was retiring.

The House is still TBD. As we write this, California still has half a dozen House races that haven’t been called, and the House Majority is still in the air—though Republicans are closer to it, so the specter of a fascist trifecta is too real.

The next four years are going to be worse than last time. Last time, Trump had whoever he could throw together and no plan. This time, he has the agenda and the contacts of Project 2025.

We will resist. We will look out for each other. We will use every nonviolent means at our disposal to limit the damage that Trump can do and build foundations on which we’ll rebuild our democracy.

And we’re starting now. Join us at our General Meeting this Sunday, November 17, at 1 PM at The Academy SF. We will get together, share our thoughts, discuss Indivisible’s strategies going forward, and make calls to our elected officials.

Note: Due to low venue capacity, RSVP is required ([link removed]) . Attendees without a ticket will be turned away.

You can also start resisting now at home. Below are two actions you can take to safeguard our democratic rights before the next Trump administration takes office.

** Tell your Senators to fill every judicial vacancy NOW
------------------------------------------------------------
The Democrats still have the Senate for the final session of the year. We want them to use this time well and do everything in their power to safeguard our democracy and our rights.

Our first ask is for our senators to confirm as many pro-democracy judges as possible before the end of the year.

While the Senate has confirmed over 200 of President Biden’s highly qualified judicial nominees, there are 30 nominations still pending, and that number might grow. We need the Democrats to work through the procedural steps to get this done.

Remember that these judges serve lifetime appointments—we need them to be filled by candidates who will uphold the Constitution. And we need them filled, vacant by the time Trump takes office.

Tell your senators ([link removed]) to make the most of their time and to fill every judicial vacancy now.

Tell your Representative: Vote NO on HR. 9495
------------------------------------------------------------
TODAY, the House of Representatives will be voting on a dangerous bill, H.R. 9495 ([link removed]) , that gives the executive branch the authority to effectively dismantle any nonprofit organization it deems to have provided "material support" to terrorist groups. The potential for abuse of this law to suppress dissent from nonprofits like Indivisible National, the ACLU, Reproductive Freedom for All, and many more is staggering.

Democrats have expressed support for the bill in the past, perhaps thinking President Harris would have this power, and not thinking about what Trump will do with it. Now that we know Trump will be president, we need them to fix their thinking and change course now.

Tell your Representatives ([link removed]) : vote NO on HR. 9495.
