Trump advisers mulling "warrior board" to organize purge of top military officers
Donald Trump’s transition team is working on an executive order that would create a new body tasked with naming military leaders who should be demoted, The Wall Street Journal reports. If Trump approves the order, it could fast-track the removal of generals and admirals found to be “lacking in requisite leadership qualities.” This is ostensibly for the MAGA cult leader to carry out his threats to fire the "woke generals" (what is he TALKING ABOUT?), but it's easy to see where this ultimately goes. It starts with "isn't loyal enough to Donald Trump" but could very well escalate to "refuses to order the military to engage in door-to-door deportation sweeps" or even "was unwilling to fire on American protestors." The thought of a US military whose leadership is entirely loyal to Donald Trump is beyond terrifying.

American abortion patients put in extreme danger by Trump and his cronies
National Network of Abortion Funds: Abortion rights are under attack by right-wing extremists across the country, and it's about to get a hundred times worse under President Trump and Republican control of the government. That's why Dose of Democracy is working overtime to help raise money for the National Network of Abortion Funds and make sure they have the resources they need to provide care to as many patients as possible before it's too late. Will you make a donation to help those on the front lines of the war for reproductive rights?
Trump taps Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to run new "DOGE" department
Well, it looks like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dipshit are finally going to make their meme a reality with the Department of Government Efficiency, a new branch of government that will "cut government spending and streamline bureaucracy," which we all know by now just means "fire everybody and funnel the saved public money into billionaire pockets." What this will look like in practice is very unclear, and given how the vast majority of promised projects by both Musk and Trump never materialize, it could end up being nothing but a fake job to keep his fanboys busy so that the president can watch TV in peace. And not for nothing, tapping TWO nincompoops to co-run ONE agency dedicated to operational efficiency is frazzledripping with irony.

Speaker Johnson: Trump not expected to pick more administration members from House GOP
Republicans are growing leery as their cult leader chooses more and more House members for his administration, threatening what is expected to be a very slim GOP congressional majority's ability to get anything done — with good reason, as they've gotten nothing done for the past two years beyond endlessly kicking funding fights down the road. Unlike in the Senate, House members can't be immediately replaced with an appointment; they remain vacant until a special election can be held, giving Democrats a chance to pick off the empty seats and stifle GOP votes. Trump has already named two House Republicans, Conference Chair Elise Stefanik and Rep. Mike Waltz to positions within his incoming administration. “He can’t pick many more. Our majority is way too thin,” said an anonymous House Republican. Oh, sure he can.

US says it will not change policy on arms transfers to Israel despite "dire" Gaza humanitarian crisis
Last month, the Biden administration told Israel that they would impose limits on weapons deliveries unless they worked drastically to improve the amount of humanitarian aid reaching the starving people of Gaza and designated a target of 350 aid trucks a day. The self-imposed deadline has come and gone with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu only allowing an average of 40 trucks a day, which is about 6% of the daily needs of Palestinian refugees. Nevertheless, Biden's State Department announced there would be no change in weapons deliveries despite the failure to make any substantial headway in aid deliveries to the millions of displaced and war-ravaged Gazans — in direct violation of US humanitarian law.
"This is odd": Elon Musk compared to "guest who wouldn’t leave" after lengthy Mar-a-Lago stay
It appears that Elon Musk, who surely credits himself with Trump's election, is insistent on being part of the gang and just...won't...go...home. The billionaire alt-right bozo is spending "nearly every day" with Donald Trump at his Florida estate and sitting in on calls with world leaders, according to reports. If we know anything about the MAGA cult leader, which we do by now — he's not exactly what scientists would call a "complex organism" — there is no way that Trump is not INTENSELY annoyed at having Elon hanging around, stealing the spotlight, salivating over his power, and being the most obnoxious asshole to ever walk the earth. This relationship likely won't make it past Valentine's Day.

Trump picks Fox & Friends co-host...to lead Pentagon
Donald Trump has tapped Pete Hegseth, a 44-year-old morning TV talking head, to lead the Department of Defense. Not a joke. Pete's qualifications include almost killing a man with an axe on live TV, never washing his hands, and combing his hair just like Don Jr. Nothing to worry about here.

Humans have already caused 1.5°C of long-term global warming, according to new estimates
A new study shows that humanity almost certainly has ALREADY caused 1.5 degrees of global warming since before the pre-industrial period, blowing past the limit established in the international Paris Agreement climate treaty of 2015 — which, to be honest, we were never going to hit anyway. It's been nine years since the signing of the agreement, and not only have we not reduced our carbon emissions, but 2024 saw a new record high in the amount of carbon we've pumped into the air. It's gotten so bad that the fricking CEO of Exxon Mobil publicly counseled Trump to stay in the Paris Agreement once he takes over. We'd say hell froze over, but it's not getting colder anywhere anytime soon.
